Ergodicity and fourth-order spectral moments

Relationships between ergodicity and structures of fourthorder spectral moments are investigated. In particular it is shown that second-order ergodicity of a random process is directly related to the distribution of these moments on the normal manifolds of the frequency domain. This result is illustrated by various examples.

Fourth order and fourth sum connectivity indices of tetrathiafulvalene dendrimers

The m-order connectivity index (G) m of a graph G is     1 2 1 1 2 1 ... ... 1 ( ) i i im m v v v i i i m d d d  G where 1 2 1 ... i i im d d d  runs over all paths of length m in G and i d denotes the degree of vertex i v . Also,        1 2 1 1 2 1 ... ... 1 ( ) i i im m v v v i i i ms d d d X G is its m-sum connectivity index. A dendrimer is an artificially manufactured or synth...

On the closures of orbits of fourth order matrix pencils

In this work we state a simple criterion for nilpotentness of a square n×n matrix pencil with respect to the action of SLn(C)×SLn(C)×SL2(C). The orbits of matrix pencils are classified explicitly for n = 4 and the hierarchy of closures of nilpotent orbits is described. Also, we prove that the algebra of invariants of the action of SLn(C)× SLn(C)× SL2(C) on C ⊗ C ⊗ C is isomorphic to the algebra...

Moments Characterization of Order 3 Matrix Exponential Distributions

The class of order 3 phase type distributions (PH(3)) is known to be a proper subset of the class of order 3 matrix exponential distributions (ME(3)). In this paper we investigate the relation of these two sets for what concerns their moment bounds. To this end we developed a procedure to check if a matrix exponential function of order 3 defines a ME(3) distribution or not. This procedure is ba...

An Unbiased Second-Order Prior for High-Accuracy Motion Estimation

Virtually all variational methods for motion estimation regularize the gradient of the flow field, which introduces a bias towards piecewise constant motions in weakly textured areas. We propose a novel regularization approach, based on decorrelated second-order derivatives, that does not suffer from this shortcoming. We then derive an efficient numerical scheme to solve the new model using pro...
